April 15, 2013 MLSymon Award Applications Due

Applications are now available for the $1,000 Mary Louise Symon Community Service Award, presented annually to graduating high school seniors who have exhibited a commitment to community service. Eligible students must be attending River Valley, Dodgeville, Mineral Point, Highland, Iowa-Grant, Barneveld or Pecatonica High Schools. For the first time this year, home schooled seniors who live in the same areas are also eligible for the award. Winners will receive $1,000, up from $500 last year, to further their leadership experience. They can use the award to attend college, to perform a public service internship, to participate in a leadership conference or to participate in a similar activity. The applications for the Mary Louise Symon Award must be completed and submitted by April 15, 2013. The applications are available from high school counselors at the participating schools or can be downloaded from the Grassroots Mary Louise Symon Award webpage.
