April 25, 2013 Legislature Update - Schultz, Marklein & others

(Dodgeville) The Dodgeville School District , Dodgeville Area Chamber of Commerce and Mineral Point Chamber of Commerce are partnering together for a series of events. Information is as follows:

The first event will be a Legislative Breakfast at the Dodger Bowl. The breakfast will run from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. and will feature guest speakers including Senator Dale Schultz and Representative Howard Marklein and also Dr. Bambi Statz from UW Whitewater. The breakfast will have brief updates on happenings in the legislature from Senator Schultz and Representative Marklein. Then, Dr. Statz will give a short presentation on the impact that private school options like independent charter schools and vouchers have on the public. There will be time for feedback and questions at the end. Breakfast will be $7.00 per person and open to the general public. To register for this event, please contact the Chamber office at 935.9200 ASAP.

For those unable to attend the morning breakfast, there will be a presentation at 7:00 p.m. at the Dodgeville High School that same day. Dr. Bambi Statz, PhD who is school finance expert and Emeritus Professor of School Business Management from UW-Whitewater, will be going in more depth than her morning presentation and will explain how your property taxes could increase or services to local students decrease, or both, in order to fund these options in other communities. Representative Marklein and Senator Schultz have also been invited to attend this evening session and if schedules permit, will be attending. There is NO cost for the evening event.
