April 26, 2012 Great Decisions: State of the Oceans Apr 26 7:30pm OR Apr 27 2pm

(Dodgeville) The Dodgeville Library will be featuring "Great Decisions" a program and briefing book that are used to engage citizens in learning about the world. The Great Decisions Discussion Program is the oldest and largest grassroots world affairs education program of its kind in the country. Each year, the Great Decisions editorial board selects eight of the most pressing global issues and regions that will be the focus of the briefing book, television programs, and online resources.

Come to one or come to all of the discussions at the DODGEVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY on Thurs. 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. or Fri. 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., the topics and dates are:

Middle East Realignment (Mar. 15th or Mar. 16th) - What lies ahead for the Middle East’s transition to democracy?

Promoting Democracy (Mar. 29th or Mar. 30th) - What place does democracy promotion have in U.S. foreign policy today?

Exit from Afghanistan & Iraq (Apr. 12th or 13th) - What exit strategy will help Afghanistan & Iraq build stable democratic nations?

State of the Oceans (Apr. 26th or 27th) - What are the consequences of climate change on oceanic factors like biodiversity, sea levels & extreme weather systems?

Join our Great Decisions Discussion Group at the Dodgeville Public Library this March. Four topics have been selected for discussion. Great Decisions meetings feature open and fair conversation, without requirement for consensus. Materials from the Foreign Policy Association are available at the Library prior to each session.
