February 29, 2012 MP School Referendum Info 7PM

Mineral Point schools are moving in the right direction to improve student achievement. To continue that progress and to reach our mission, reinvestment in our school district is needed. Learn more about the plan at a Town Hall Meeting: Wednesday, February 29th. 7:00 p.m. MS/HS Cafetorium.

On April 3, 2012, residents within the boundaries of the Mineral Point Unified School District will vote on the following referendum question:
The revenues included in the school district budget be authorized to exceed the revenue limit by $1,100,000 for recurring purposes consisting of paying the costs of maintaining the educational programs, facilities, and equipment of the District.

If passed, the April 2012 referendum will:
o Reset the revenue limit base to reflect the current and future needs of the district.
o Eliminate the over $1 million structural deficit the district faces indefinitely.
o Maintain instructional programming as it currently exists.
o Maintain buildings that students, staff, and the community can be proud of.
o Cost to taxpayer: Nothing in mill rate! Tax payers will recognize approximately a $47 decrease per $100,000 of home value in the first year with a $126 decrease per $100,000 over three years. The annual drop in taxes is due to debt obligations of the district being paid off in each of the next three years.
