April 30, 2010 35th Annual Trout Unlimited Banquet

The Harry and Laura Nohr Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be holding its 35th Annual Fund Raising Banquet on Friday, April 30th at the Dodger Bowl in Dodgeville, WI. Doors open at 6:00 P.M. for cocktails, conversation and raffles, Buffet Dinner at 7:00 P.M.

Trout Unlimited is much more than a ‘fishing club,’ but is rather an organization devoted to the protection and enhancement of cold water resources in our area.

Over the past six years, the Harry and Laura Nohr Chapter has spearheaded the restoration and enhancement of APPROXIMATELY EIGHT (8) MILES! of stream habitat open for public fishing in Southwest Wisconsin.

In the same six years, the Chapter has provided over $12,000 in GRANTS TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS in support of conservation education. This includes the purchase of educational materials, scientific data collection equipment and field project support.

The following schools have been recipients of one or more of these special grants since 2004: Platteville High School, Iowa-Grant Elementary School, Benton Middle School, St. Mary’s School-Platteville, School District of Potosi, Barneveld School District, Cassville High School, Mineral Point High School, St. Joseph’s Catholic School-Hazel Green, Barneveld School, Highland Middle School, Holy Ghost School-Dickeyville, Iowa Grant Middle School, Pecatonica Middle School and Winskill Elementary in Lancaster.

For its efforts, the Harry and Laura Nohr Chapter was recognized as the Outstanding Trout Unlimited Chapter in the Nation in 2006! See more details and a learn more about Harry and Laura Nohr and the Chapter at http://www.nohrtu.org/

Finally, it should be noted that the Banquet is a true ‘family affair,’ with all youth in attendance guaranteed to get a prize. Make plans now to bring your family to this great event.
