August 6, 2017 Lanterns for Peace 6:30PM

(Dodgeville) LANTERNS FOR PEACE (a memorable summer event for all ages) This moving annual event, on the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing, starts at 6:30 p.m. at Twin Valley Lake in Gov. Dodge State Park – with children and adults making lanterns, enjoying music together and sharing reflections. Caring for our Mother Earth” is the theme of this year’s Lanterns for Peace family event – always a moving experience as some 100 hand-made lanterns trail behind a lone canoe as it moves silently through the water of Twin Valley Lake in Governor Dodge State Park. Starting at 6:30 p.m., children and adults will make lanterns, enjoy music together led by singer/songwriter Willie Sterba and share reflections. Bring snacks to pass. At dusk the long string of illuminated lanterns will trail behind a lone canoe as it moves silently through the water. Not to be missed! Sponsored by the Grassroots Citizens for Peace.
