February 25, 2013 My Unspoken History: Japanese Internment Camps WWII 6:30PM

(Dodgeville)“MY UNSPOKEN HISTORY: Japanese Internment Camps WW II”
Christine Tsubokura (of Mineral Point) will present this fascinating program at the Dodgeville Library, 139 South Iowa Street. Co-sponsored by Grassroots Citizens for Peace, United Fund and Friends of the Library. “Imagine that one day you received notice that you & your whole family must be ready to move within 48 hours. You could take only the possessions you could carry & no one would tell you when you would be permitted to return home.” That’s the harrowing story Christine will reveal about her family members, who were among the 100,000 people of Japanese descent, many of their U.S. citizens, that were forced to leave their West Coast homes. For the duration of World War II, they were imprisoned in distant internment camps. At this event, refreshment provided by the new Mineral Point restaurant, Kusaka, will be served.
